This part of the Human-Machine Interface series is extremely large. This groups' documents contain the information on the all-important OCIs for the sub-systems related to graphics cards, 2d and 3d, as well as video.

One of the more influential groups, as far as design, the Audio group is responsible for creating several object class interfaces, as well as implementing them in code for several of the most common sound cards, specifically the SB (8-bit), SB16, SB AWE32, GUS Ultrasound, and GUS Interwave. This group currently has four sub-groups:

DIGITAL

The DIGITAL subgroup handles all digitally sampled audio.

GMIDI

General MIDI.

FM

Frequency Modulation.

ORCHESTRATION

Developing a simple, naturally seamless way for the other three subgroups OCIs to coordinate among themselves is very important, and dealt with by these people.

Want to help define the interfaces to printers, fax, etc?

The Hard Copy group is spawned off of the Visual Group. Since the same OCI is used, this group does quite a bit of talking to the visual group to make sure the OCI is compatible with all hard copy devices. Mostly, besides from being advocates for printers, they write code to manage them.
