Project Eos is a group of programmers from around the world dedicated to providing a top-flight OS to run games under. It includes members from all aspects of the computer industry with many different interests in a game operating system.
The Project originated on the UseNet group Rec.Games.Programmer from a post by one of the Project Eos members: Misha Koshelev. Misha was interested in producing an OS especially for games to run under. A flurry of posts ensued and soon the idea for Eos was beginning to become more solid. A team of programmers interested in working on such a project began to emerge.
Project Eos is divided into smaller teams, each of which handles an aspect of creating the operating system. For instance, there is a team which handles device drivers for the system, and another that handles documentation. Each of these teams has a leader who is responsible for the progress of his/her team.
For those tough decisions, Project Eos has an executive committee. If a member of Project Eos feels that an issue is not being resolved he/she can ask the committe to render a decision on the matter. The committee will then ask for input from the team as a whole and make a decision. The committee's authority is only called into play when someone on Project Eos calls for it, however.
